Doctors rethinking hallucinogens


More than forty years after Timothy Leary encouraged people to “Turn on, tune in, drop out,” scientists are taking a new look at hallucinogens as a viable treatment for depression. While results in small scale tests have showed promise, doctors have been careful to not repeat the mistakes of some scientists in the 1960s who emerged a vocal evangelists without a thorough understanding of psychedelics’ effects.
